The Voice of the Heavens is silent

As Darkness falls from the wings of Night

Like a feather wafted downward

From an eagle in its flight.

I see the light in your eyes

Gleam through the rain and the mist

And a feeling of sadness comes o're me

That my soul cannot resist

A feeling of sadness and longing

That walks hand in hand with pain

And resembles sorrow only

In that the mist resembles rain

But your smile is all around me

Like the warmth of your embrace

And this feeling is boiling inside me

Like Mercy mixed with Grace

It is the Hope of the Mountains

It is the Joy of the Springs

It is the Defiance of the Oceans

And Peace that only Wind brings

So tell of a gentle romance

Some simple heartfelt lay

That shall soothe this restless beating

And forestall this hearts decay

Not of grand old romances

Not of lovers sublime

Whose distant star-crossed stories

Echo down the corridors of Time

For like strains of marital music

Those mighty songs suggest

Loves endless toil and endeavor

And tonight I wish to rest

Tell me a humbler story

Of love that pours out from the heart

Like rains of the spring or summer

And causes tears from eyes to part

To carry me through long days of loneliness

And night devoid of warmth or ease

And shall allow my heart to hear

The music of Eros’ symphonies

Such songs have power to quiet

The restless pulse of care,

And come like the benediction

That follows after prayer

Then read from the treasured volume

The poem of thy choice,

And lend to the rhyme of the poet

The beauty of thy voice.

And the night shall be filled with music,

And the loneliness, that plagues my way,

Shall flee from my heart, for a moment,

And as our life together, slips away.

This is a poem that was inspired by this image [link] which was created by DarknessEndless [link]

It reminded me of a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that is titled The Day is Done. And for some reason romance was on the brain. Now I can't say that this is completely original because I followed the same poetic syntax as Longfellow and outright copied two full stanzas and several lines from The Day is Done. However I hope you enjoy it and take a look at the image by DarknessEndless. It is a truly beautiful photo manipulation and I think that you would enjoy it.

This is... epic! Congrats. I just could not translate " o're". What does it mean?
